Advisory CommitteesA pastor should not act alone in administration of a parish. He must hear the voice of his people, and they must be well represented. Saint Andrew Parish has three advisory committees to the pastor. Independently, they advocated for all parishioners in the areas of Spirituality (Pastoral Committee), Financial Decisions (Finance Committee), and the giving of personal Time, Talent and Treasure (Stewardship Committee). These links connect to pages containing the duties of each committee, and their members. Pastoral Council | Finance Committee | Stewardship Committee Pastoral CouncilThe Parish Pastoral Council fosters participation of the entire parish in the life and mission of the Church. The Council, as a consultative body, advises and assists the pastor in areas of pastoral concern. It develops and recommends parish pastoral plans through consensus in an atmosphere of prayerful reflection. The pastor of the parish is the Chairperson. Members of the Pastoral Council are representative of the entire parish recognizing and reflecting the parish’s diversity. The Pastoral Council collaborates and cooperates with the parish staff, committees, groups and parishioners. Pastoral Council Committee Members 2007-2008Msgr. Albin J. Finance CommitteeThe Parish Finance Committee is a consultative body which assists the pastor in areas related to the parish finances and temporalities on a regular basis. While separate and distinct from the Pastoral Council, the Finance Committee shares information with the Council and assists the pastor in implementing the pastoral plans suggested by the Parish Pastoral Council by making fiscally responsible recommendations. Stewardship CommitteeThe Stewardship Committee was formed in the spring of 2000 in response to the spiritual, pastoral and temporal challenges we face in the implementation of our pastoral plans and the parish’s mission. Stewardship reminds us that all that we have is a gift from God. Yet this simple truth is often lost in the images and messages of our culture that celebrates individualism, consumerism, and earthly success as measured by power, prestige and possessions. Stewardship poses three questions: (1) “What has been given to me by God?’’ (2) “What is being asked of me as a Christian Steward, a disciple of Jesus?” and (3) “How do I respond?” Through prayer and the deepening of our faith and relationship with Our Lord, we will achieve a greater understanding and appreciation of all of our gifts, our talents and skills--gratefully sharing these gifts in service, justice and love with others. The response to this call over the past few year has been very
encouraging with hundreds of parishioners recommitting themselves to making
prayer an important part of their lives; volunteering their time and skills
in record numbers to one or more of our many parish ministries; and renewing
their pledge to planned, sacrificial giving or tithing. Increased
participation in the liturgies, spiritual enrichment ministries,
volunteerism and sacrificial giving are evidence that the Holy Spirit is at
work at St. Andrew’s Parish. However, spreading the good news of the gospel
is on-going. Each new day provides us with an opportunity to: discern our
special blessings; prayerfully petition God’s help in understanding his plan
for us on this earth; and express our gratitude through the generous sharing
of our time, talents and treasure. Stewardship is truly a way of life.
